Hello,

Welcome to Healthcare Magic.

I have read your question fully and understand your concerns.

The tightness and pain in both your lower legs and ankles point towards the possibility of you have fluid retention in your legs. It could be because you may have been sitting for a long time – happens in long distance journeys by air or road. This is called dependent oedema.

You are also having raised BP. Even if BP is not adequately controlled fluid sometimes gets retained in the feet. Some high BP reduction medicines like Amlodipine also cause fluid swelling.

As your symptoms are in both your legs, cellulitis is a little unlikely. But it can still happen, though the possibility is small. Cellulitis is infection of skin – it can cause redness, swelling and pain and the legs would be warm to touch.

I would advise you to see your doctor for a proper evaluation and advice. Fluid retention needs treatment of the cause – treating your BP adequately, antibiotics if cellulitis and as if Amlodipine is culprit, then changing to a different medication. Your doctor may also prescribe a water tablet for the fluid to reduce. Keep legs elevated while sitting or sleeping, this will also help.

I hope this answer has helped you.

Thank you
Regards
